Materials:
1 tortilla press
1 mixing bowl
1 wisk
1 griddle
2 sheets plastic wrap
1 measuring cup
Ingredients:
2 cups Maseca Grano De Maiz
1.5 cups water
1 cup of oil for frying (as needed)
12 6” corn tortillas, cut into 6 wedges each
Salt to taste
Instructions:
- Combine 2 cups Maseca flour and 1.5 cups water in mixing bowl
- Mix thoroughly for 2 minutes until a soft dough is formed
- If dough feels dry, add teaspoons of water, one-by-one
- Divide dough into 19 equal balls of approximately 1 ounce each
- Cover with a damp cloth to keep dough soft and moist
- Line a tortilla press with 2 sheets of thick plastic wrap
- Spray plastic wrap with olive oil
- Place each ball between the two sheets and press until each tortilla measures 5 inches in diameter
- Heat griddle to medium heat
- Cook each tortilla for 30 seconds, turning the tortilla 3 times
- Cover tortillas with a cloth napkin to keep them soft and warm
- Cut each tortilla into 6 slices
- Heat oil in frying pan on medium heat
- Fry chips in oil for 30 seconds, remove and place on paper towel to remove excess oil
